Other Projects

A few other things I would like to share with you…many times during my career I have used my artistic abilities in other creative ways…some are simple such as creating a back ground for a sandwich board, to painting a billboard sign…and some become a little more creative and complex such as adding scenes and trimmings to walls, using trompe l’oeil technique…and even decorative staging of a hall for a Sandcastle competition banquet…

Sandwich-board Advertising

…This was a combined effort, with the vinyl lettering applied by a graphic sign painter.

I designed and painted the background using exterior latex paint for the base, my oils for the border, and then coating the entire board with exterior ClearKote…

Billboard Advertising

…I had the opportunity to work with this same graphic sign painter on a much larger project…this project was painted on a 4′ x 8′ sheet of plywood with add ons for the graphic portion above and below…

I painted this using exterior enamel paints, mixing the colours as I needed them…

Wall Murels

Starting with flat walls, detailed images are painted…trims are added through the use of a technique known as trompe l’oeil , this is an option to custom decorate your rooms…

Backdrops

Doing the backdrops for the World Championship Sand Sculpture Competition banquet in 2008 was one of my largest projects. It provided me with many different challenges and working with many different materials to facilitate an effect that was conducive for the occasion…

…The finished product was over 8 feet tall and 40 feet long…

…The stage backdrop measured out at 6 feet to 9 feet and 20 feet long…

All the walls and lettering are made from Styrofoam…

…This winter scene was painted on Coroplast using acrylic paint…

It was designed to fit on top of a garage door…approximately 7ft. high x 10ft. wide…
